YIPPEE Exchange is a innovative platform that connects educators with entrepreneurs, authors, and content creators with a focus on providing opportunities for young people to thrive.
While YIPPEE sounds like an expression of excitement, it stands for:
Youth-resources support students in K-12
Ideas-the heart of entrepreneurship
Products-teachers can select products and resources for their classrooms
Points-the currency to buy the products
Entrepreneurship-the path to finding solutions to problems
Education-developing both the mindset and skillset of young people
While entrepreneurship is one of the most common career paths in the United States, there aren't a lot of educational resources for teachers to build this skillset in their students. Recognizing that classroom budgets are often non-existent, YIPPEE works to provide quality resources to teachers through its unique exchange program.
Funded by the Burton D. Morgan Foundation and other sponsors, the platform allows teachers to access materials for free! Earning points, teachers can select lessons, curriculum guides, workshops, or even field trips for their class.
Create your account and search hundreds of products and services on YIPPEE Exchange. You can search by grade level or topic to find content that builds creativity, promotes problem-solving, and develops perseverance. Whether looking for a great read aloud with an entrepreneurial theme or lesson to teach students how to pitch their business idea, YIPPEE has quality resources to choose from.
If you are interested in content with a design thinking activities or activities that use the engineering design process, check out my YIPPEE storefront, called STEAM Maker Learning. I've created hands-on unit guides that are connected to some amazing children's books like How to Sell a Rock and Sweet Sneakers. The lessons connect STEM and ELA (which have always been passions of mine) and align them to skills that are the foundation for entrepreneurship and financial literacy.Starting with a great children's book is one of my favorite ways to begin a lesson. Your students will love these students and will have even more fun with the creative, hands-on parts of the lessons.
The lesson plans include literacy components like vocabulary, comprehension, and writing, while also building skills that are critical to an entrepreneurial mindset like opportunity-seeking, goal-setting, risk-taking, and adaptability. I've also included choice boards, perfect for learning centers.I'm adding new products every day, including an upcoming virtual workshop that you can get for FREE!
